English IH: Useful Links
About the Class
This course is designed for the student who excels in English. While similar to the scope of English I in many respects and content, English IH is fast-paced and demands higher quality work than that of English I. Students will read additional texts that are more complex and be required to complete supplemental material that goes beyond the English I class. Enrollment is based on data and teacher recommendation.
The semester is broken into four units: Romeo and Juliet, short stories, The Odyssey, and The Great Gatsby (unit contains an essay assignment). Grammar and vocabulary instruction will be incorporated throughout the units as necessary.
Students are also required to complete an "Independent Reading Project" based on the novel of their choice. The majority of the work for this project is to be completed outside of class. Reading logs will shared in Google Drive folders.
All assignments for English IH are subject to the WHS English Department policy. Late work is accepted one day late, for which the student will receive 50% credit. After one day, the student will receive no credit for the assignment. This policy applies to all assignments in English IH.
